INDIVIDUALS ARE REFERRED FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENTS FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS. DEPENDING ON THE REASON FOR THE REFERRAL, A PSYCHOLOGICAL OR PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL EVALUATION MAY INCLUDE:

  • An assessment of cognitive abilities (IQ or intelligence)
  • An assessment of broad and narrow abilities of cognition
  • An assessment of an individual’s memory and learning
  • An assessment of executive functioning
  • An assessment of academic achievement
  • An assessment of social, emotional, and/or behavioral functioning
  • An assessment of an individual’s development
  • Play-based assessments
  • A clinical interview with the child,  adolescent, adult, or parent
  • A classroom observation
  • A review of previous psychological or academic records
  • A diagnosis of the presenting problems or concerns
